Managing an Arizona Estate Without Traveling: What It Actually Looks Like

By Chris & Katie Taylor

No flights, no leave days, no guessing. The step-by-step sequence our out-of-state families follow to settle a Kingman estate from wherever they live.

Most of the families we serve are out of state, and most never travel to Kingman during the process. A video walkthrough replaces the first flight, photo documentation replaces standing in the driveway, and a certified check in the mail ends it. Here is what a typical remote estate sale looks like with us, start to finish.

Step 1: the video walkthrough

You call, we meet you at the house on video. Together we walk every room: what is here, what the family wants set aside, what could sell, what a sale would realistically gross. By the end of that call you have a realistic picture and a written plan with numbers: an hour estimate at $120 an hour for a full-service estate sale, and an honest answer about what happens to anything that does not sell. Estate sales are all we do, so the unsold items stay yours; we never buy or haul them away. No flight, no leave days. The full process is on our remote estate services page.

Step 2: keepsakes first, always

Before anything is sold, family items are pulled, photographed, and confirmed with you, then set aside and kept safe for the family to collect or arrange. We do not ship them ourselves, and we never sell or haul them; they are held out of the sale entirely. Photos, documents, and the things money does not measure are the first job, not an afterthought.

Step 3: the work, with your eyes on it

  • Photo documentation as we sort and stage: you see what we see, including anything unexpected we find
  • Check-ins every couple of days during setup, and a call every day the sale runs
  • One point of contact: you talk to the owners, not a call center
  • Decisions stay yours: anything ambiguous gets a photo and a question, not a guess

Step 4: settlement you can audit from your kitchen table

After the sale: a written settlement statement of what sold and for how much, and a certified check mailed to you. Whatever does not sell is yours to keep or donate; we are glad to point you to local donation options, but we never take, buy, or haul away your belongings. The house is left as we found it, photographed, and ready for the records check and listing. What our families say about the experience is on our reviews page, in their own words.

What should you have ready before you call?

  • Your authority status: appointed personal representative, trustee, or family acting together (see the out-of-state guide)
  • Access: a key, a code, or a neighbor who has one
  • The family list: who wants what, even roughly, so keepsakes get set aside before the sale
  • Your timeline: a closing date changes the recommendation

The first call costs nothing and usually answers the question that is keeping you up: how do we sell what is in the house, from here, and what happens to the rest. More detail in the out-of-state FAQ.

Need the house cleared before it lists? That is exactly what we do. Book a consultation — $120 or call (928) 385-8413.
